"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven and will forgive
their sin and will heal their land‘."
2 Chronicles 7:14
Together with this scripture, God also gave me a vision on February
2nd 2003 to have a Christian gathering in Hong Kong. The purpose of
this gathering is to promote unity among all the churches. After the
SARS epidemic in Hong Kong, more so I felt the importance of faith and
prayer. Where there is unity, there is power and we can work towards
a common mission to love, help and uplift each other.
With this united front, we pray that God will do A
NEW THING for Hong Kong as in Isaiah 43:18 & 19
"Forget the former things.
Do not dwell in the past
See, I'm doing a new thing!
Now it springs up;
Do you not perceive it?
I'm making a way in the desert
And streams in the wasteland."
I sincerely hope that you will come and bring your friends along to
see what God has to speak to you.
God bless you all,
Chairperson of the Citywide Renewal, "A New Thing"
given to the Pastors on September 5, 2003 in Royal Plaza Hotel
by Mrs. Linda Ma (Chairperson of the Citywide Renewal, "A New Thing")
Before I start giving
my testimony, I would like to thank all of you who are here today in
spite of your busy schedules. I would also like to take this opportunity
to give special thanks for those who have persistently prayed for me
and the gathering on Oct. 4.
Secondly I would like to explain my reason of using a cross in the poster.
One day, God gave me a vision of a cross to explain this unity He so
desires. The NS axis represents the unity of the people within the society:
starting from the church, to the government and the market place. In
short, people from different backgrounds. The EW axis represents the
unity of churches. From English speaking to Chinese speaking churches.
From traditional to charismatic churches. God desires that we can come
together as One People to worship His Majesty.
Now I would like to share with you the testimony of the birth of this
On 2nd Feb of this year, I had a personal encounter with the Lord in
Singapore. At 2.30am, I was awoken up by the word 'crusade'. That word
somehow excited me but I did not know why. I could not go back to sleep.
When I nearly dozed off at 4.00am, the word 'crusade' woke me up again.
Somehow I knew the Lord was trying to get my attention. I prayed to
the Lord. "Lord, you did not wake me up for nothing. There must
be a message for me and please give me an answer". The Lord's prompting
to me was: I shall explain to you in church this morning at 8 o'clock.
With a step of faith, I told my husband about this and I am glad I did.
Now my husband is the witness to this testimony.
That day, Rev. Lawrence Kong was giving the sermon in Faith Community
Baptist Church. When the sermon was halfway through, the pastor said
as crystal clear as can be "Love Singapore. We should have crusades
and unity of churches. God is grieved with our sins and the greatest
power God's children have over darkness is unity". In that sermon,
the name of Dr. Rick Seaward was mentioned, as he is the Chairman of
the Love Singapore Movement.
When I returned to HK, the word crusades appeared everywhere. In books,
in newspapers and even in websites I entered. WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A
DOUBT, I KNEW THE LORD WAS SPEAKING TO ME. Love Hong Kong, have a crusade,
now called the gathering.
Then the Lord showed me the following Biblical Verses.
Jeremiah Chapter 1 Verse16
'I will pronounce my judgements on my people
Because of their wickedness in forsaking me'
1 Corinthians Chapter 3, Verse 3 speaking on the division in the church
'You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarrelling
among you, are you not worldly?'
Genesis Chapter 6, Verse 6.
'The Lord was grieved....'
'I am grieved that I have made them.'
Then one night I was in Hong Kong Coliseum. I asked the Lord "Is
this the place, Lord?" I saw the screen, the seats, the sound system
etc. Will this place be too big? He answered "NOTHING IS TOO BIG
God showed me these following passages:
In the footnote of Psalm Chapter 148 Verse 5-14 the Application Bible:
'All creation is like a majestic symphony or a great choir composed
of many harmonious parts that together offer up songs of praise. Each
part is caught up and carried along in the swelling tides of praise.
This is a picture of how we as believers should praise God-individually,
yet as part of the great choir of believers worldwide. Are you singing
well in the worldwide choir of praise?'
Psalm Chapter 150 Verse 3-5
In the footnote of 1 Chronicles Chapter 16 Verse 4-7 in the Application
'The music must have been loud and joyous as evidenced by the list of
instruments and the presence of choirs and song leaders. Music was also
important in New Testament worship.'
Ephesians Chapter 5 Verse 19
Colossians Chapter3 Verse 16.
After the SARS epidemic in HK, moreso did I feel the importance of faith
and the unity of churches. This echoed the vision of the gathering.
The harvest is here for the people to hear God's message and the unity
I told June about my personal encounter with the Lord and she encouraged
me to proceed under the covering of ICA. Pastor Ken, Linda, BK and David
also encouraged me to go ahead with the gathering.
On May 30th, convinced by so many promptings from the Lord, I phoned
Hong Kong Coliseum initially trying to find out the available dates
in the month of Oct. But to my surprise, the person in charge told me
that if I did not make a decision of paying the deposit on that very
day for the October 4th opening, I would have to wait till next year-
in March 2004!!
With a step of faith, I paid the deposit through ICA and booked the
Coliseum for October 4th. I said I did this with a step of faith because
at that time we did not have the speaker yet.
We then requested Dr. Rick Seaward to come, as prompted to me by the
Lord. Dr. Seaward said he could only come under one condition. He has
to return to Singapore the morning after the event at 8.00am. Fortunately,
there is a CX flight at 8.00pm the evening of the gathering, so that
he can return home in time. If CX does not have this flight, Rick cannot
come. Praise the Lord.
With the venue and the guest speaker arranged, the organization proceeded
and is now well underway. I have to give special thanks to the committee
members: Mr. Robert Tsoi, Mr. Hugo Chan, Rev. Li Kin Wah, Ms. June Liau,
Dr. Agatha Chan, Mrs. Grace Loong and Rev. Enoch Lam. The smooth running
of this gathering is a testimony of God's hand upon it and His divine
intervention. Praise the Lord
Please continue to listen to the final part of my testimony, which is
the most interesting part.
I was recently in New York for 2 days and I went to Times Square Church
and to my greatest joy, Rev. David Wilkerson was giving a sermon on
He began his sermon by talking about the blackout in New York that happened
last month. He believes that everything that happens in this world is
an act of God, including the blackout incident. God wanted to use that
incident to send His people a message: that the nation is vulnerable
and that we CANNOT live without him. What he spoke of reminded me of
the SARS breakout in Hong Kong.
Whilst I was thinking about the association, God caught my attention
when Rev. David said in a crystal clear voice: "But God is going
to do a New Thing." He asked us to turn to Isaiah Chapter 43 Verse
18-19 'Forget the former things; do not dwell in the past. See, I am
doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it?...'
I WAS SHAKEN TO THE CORE BECAUSE THIS IS THE EXACT BIBLICAL VERSE THAT
WE USE FOR THIS GATHERING. Then he continued. God will rise up and His
name will be glorified. Rev. David also mentioned that when we pray
we have to humble ourselves before God will heal the land. Chronicle
Chapter 14. Verse 7.
When you look at my website this is another Biblical verse I used for
the gathering. 2 exact Biblical verses within the few minutes, this
cannot be a co-incidence! God's message that day echoed and reinforced
the previous messages He had given me. God is with me and He wants me
to tell you that God is with us.
Then Rev. David continued to talk about the Lord being grieved with
our sins. Yes, He is. For His name's sake, we should rise and be revived.
We should rise up to proclaim His name. We should rise up to declare
His Power, His Might and His Strength. And in doing so, we should have
no fear of man. No man can stand in the way of our proclamation of His
The next thing that shocked me is that he said that many nations will
be revived, especially China (HK is part of China). He mentioned the
revival of China 3 times. He asked the congregation to pray for China,
Russia, Islam and the rest of the world, putting particular emphasis
on China. I am very grateful that other countries have the heart for
HK and are praying for us. (Rev. Nicky Gumble of Holy Trinity Brompton
in UK was praying for us as well when I visited him in April 2003)
The message cannot be clearer: that the Lord is grieved with us and
we have to wake up, rise up and lift up His name. Let us pray for the
revival and please invite and encourage your congregation to come to
the gathering. This is His calling, His gathering, His party.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Speech given by Rev. Li Kin Wah (General
Secretary of the Citywide Renewal, "A New Thing")
On the 5th of September,
more than 120 ministers from different churches gathered at the Royal
Plaza Hotel for a vision sharing meeting.
Praise the Lord,
we were able to hear how God manifested Himself again. This time, it
was through a dear sister who is not even a minister. I believed that
everyone who attended the meeting was anxious to hear what God had to
say to our city as well as to our churches.
of the organising committee, Mrs. Linda Ma, shared how "Citywide
Renewal" came about. As I listened to her, my mind suddenly recalled
an event that happened sometime in February. The Lord woke me up around
4:00 am. While I was wondering why He had waken me, I heard His voice.
He said, "I
want you to get up and pray for the renewal of this city." So I
went to pray.
For the next three
weeks, the Lord would wake me up in the middle of the night and get
me to pray for the renewal of Hong Kong. I really felt that God wanted
me to do something for Him. Since March, the Lord allowed me to embark
on a number of endeavours and they were all connected to the renewal
of the city, and has not stopped even now.
In March and April,
the Lord impressed upon me to start on a 40 day fasting and prayer.
During Easter, several thousand Christians gathered in Causeway Bay
for a "March for Jesus", raising up the victorious banner
of Jesus Christ. Afterwards, one of our fellow ministers was impressed
by the Holy Spirit to take action to embrace Hong Kong for 52 days.
I said, "When should we begin?" A leader responded, "In
a week." "Who can do it?" "How about you?"
was the answer. As a result, I was designated to lead, and organised
meetings to publicly praising God's name and praying for unity in Victoria
Park for 52 days.
Afterwards, a number
of ministers were again impressed by the Holy Spirit to ask the Lord
for the city to receive God's message. So in July, we implemented the
"Once Upon a Rainbow" evangelistic meetings, which consisted
of a total of 15 meetings. "Whom should we appoint to carry this
out?" I asked and Mr. Hugo Chan said, "You are the one!"
Since I knew the Lord was working in my heart, I did not dare to refuse.
Out of more than 30,000 people who attended the meetings, over 2,000
accepted the Lord as their personal Saviour.
In early August,
Linda and Hugo asked again, "Rev. Li, we are planning a meeting
in October and we hope you will be able to help." I said, "Please
don't ask me again as I don't think I can take the responsibility anymore
without the support of my organisation." At that moment, I quietly
said to the Lord, "I need to know if it is your will. Currently,
we are bidding for two to three social service projects. If none of
them is successful, then I will take this up."
What do you think
was the result? None of the projects was approved and I agreed to their
request. God is amazing. I strongly feel that revival of Hong Kong churches
is coming soon. God does not want His Body to be divided anymore. He
wants to raise up all the people in His church, to be His missionaries,
and to finish the mission of evangelising the world.
Linda shared with us about "Citywide Renewal - A New Thing",
I felt God was talking to me. I really hope that each one of you who
attended this meeting would be moved by the Holy Spirit, bringing your
flocks to hear what the Lord had to say to us. It is not only a matter
of personal revival, but also the revival of the Church. If the Hong
Kong churches remain status quo, there will be no way for us to be ready
when revival comes.
On October 4th,
aside from the message to be given by Dr. Rick Seaward from 2:30 pm
to 5:00 pm, the Organising Committee has decided to continue the meeting
with Worship and Praise from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
God has prepared
a special spiritual feast for us all. Therefore, we would like all the
churches in Hong Kong to receive, at this moment of time, an important
message from the Lord. I sincerely plead that all ministers call upon
the Lord to shower His mercy upon Hong Kong, call upon the Holy Spirit
to touch each of the brothers and sisters, and call a greater outpouring
of His anointing upon us all. Amen.
